Faces of Dissent - The 99 Per Cent (part II)

Faces of Dissent - The 99 Per Cent

Today was the twelfth day that some brave protesters hung out on Liberty Plaza in New York, near Wall Street to protest against the greed that prevails on Wall Street and the undue influence that big corporations have on government and society at large, not only in the USA but also worldwide. I will write a more extensive commentary in the next few days but needless to say that I am very, very sympathetic to the cause of these protesters. I hope that this movement will grow and develop into a worldwide campaign and finally change things that have been laid bare so evidently with the financial crisis in 2008 but not been tackled appropriately by politicians.

These are some of the faces of the protesters. As I said more to come... this could turn into a long term photo project...

Grant Writing Workshop in Berlin

Photograph: Donald Weber/VII Network

Learn how to obtain the funding you need and complete the projects the way you want.

VII photographer Donald Weber estimates that he’s won $178,000 through grant funding over the past five years, including a bursary from the Dorothea Lange - Paul Taylor Documentary Prize and a Guggenheim Fellowship, amongst others. He’s used the funding to create multiple award-winning projects, on his own terms and own time.

Weber will spend an intensive day examining what makes an award-winning proposal, breaking it down and helping to demystify the process. He’ll examine his own successful grants, as well as other photographers’. Weber will also outline the various funding organizations available to you. These organizations are ready to support photographers providing funding for research, creation, production, travel and living expenses. What’s the catch? Mostly very little to none.

After this workshop, you will gain all the insight you need to know in order to write your own successful proposal.
